It is so past time to quit the monolith thinking. The entity is not the people. It’s not even funny to joke otherwise. Some of y’all actually think this way, too.

    Kinda sick of seeing it.

Don’t you wish there was a way to quit enabling these shit-kickin’ shitheads. To let them actually live what they preach, in isolation without their shitwater splashing and spilling around everywhere else.

None of their politicians asking for handouts behind closed doors and under the table, too embarrassed to admit to the voters that yes, indeed, a collective government IS extremely useful AND convenient when you need it the most, and not only when YOU need it but also when OTHERS need it, too.

But one might as well try and explain quantum mechanics to a goddamned brick wall.

The top image will be recycled when it’s election season and they all vote Republican again.

I remember after the school shooting, uvalde county overwhelmingly voted for Abbot and Trump, Cruz, and every crooked judge and sheriff who did nothing while their children died. At a certain point sympathy evaporated for a community that is working against its own interests, and against the lives of their own kids. This is how I feel about Texas in particular among all the states, i just have no more empathy to spare for Texas.

Yeah. I get mississippi is fucked and most of the people who get fucked are poor and black and didnt ask for that. Louisiana is such a complicated mix, and besides, they were drunk; they didn’t mean it. I get florida got owned by fascists (they just want to party, and Florida man sounds fun as hell if he keeps a safe distance), even alabama has showed it spine and the people’s willingness to resist over and over again.

But texas… I just have no sympathy. These fucking moochers and looters who have the resources but refuse every trace of civilization no longer deserve our help. Theyre just goong to spend that money on guns and death squads and privatization that helps them fuck up like this again; at no point in their history as a US state have they been any better than this. Not another penny to these scum.

Edit: plus, they can make mexican food kinda suck. Do you have any idea how hard it is to use the right ingredients and make mexican food suck?

Im not gonna shit on alabama+ga. Death to their government and the old confederates, but multiple civil rights movements have kicked off there; they’re still fighting because enough of them stand with humanity. Florida is frustrating and annoying, but i think if all the fascists died tomorrow they’d be paragons of redneck virtue. Louisiana is drunk, they didn’t mean to, too diverse to paint with a broad brush, and have you tasted the food? Mississippi is fucked, but they’re fucked by poverty and the people who suffer largely aren’t the ones ruining the rest of our shit; they need regime change. Etc etc.

Texas is uniquely free of virtue. They have money; they use it to fuck over the restbof us, then ask for ours when their total lack of education or infrastructure gets them in trouble. They have resources, they dont fuvking build anything but parking lots woth them. Theyre uniquely positioned to stand against climate change, but always seem to stand for it. They ruin their natural beauty, they spit on their diversity, they destroy the rest of our educational systems, they get us into bullshit wars while constantly showing their cowardice.

Texans are uniquely awful, uniquely free of virtue, and not human in any meaningful way.

      That’s all red states.

From California to Mississippi, the anti-tax era got everybody. Now states don’t have domestic revenue to pay for shit, so they have to go through the Feds for everything.

Ironic, in a way, since the core of anti-tax Republicanism was supposed to be about shrinking the size of government. But here we are, beholden to whichever idiot or asshole happens to be running the executive branch at a given moment

Broadly speaking? For the same reason every other state does. Continental unity opens up trade and travel, exploits economies of scale, and simplifies the legal system for interstate business and for civil rights purposes.

Specifically? Because federal coordination helps manage natural disasters (like wildfires) and centralize big programs life Medicare/SS and secures national defense (which California profits from handsomely).

They declared theyre not foing to be helping us with disasters, though. So what the fuck is the point?

Just so they can invade our cities and kidnap our neighbors to die in the florida swamp?

If we need trade allies, mexico sounds pretty great. They actually make things there. We share language food and while not perfectly aligned on values, are far closer than the eastern neighbors, who loudly hate us-and it’s rapidly becoming mutual.

Edit:Not that i would hold turning palo alto to a sheet of luminous glass against anyone on the planet.

Frankly, Cali, Oregon, and Washington ought to form a Western Coast Pact, where if one of them gets unfair treatment from the feds, they all lock down their ports. Trump’s tariff tax on Americans, plus shipping delays and extra shipping costs would make the general public pretty mad at the situation. Hypothetically, companies can (they won’t) absorb tariff costs, but supply line interruptions are immediate total chaos, and can have knock-on effects for decades

same as it always was, the Alamo is a perfect example of this

renegade americans who want to establish their own country cant even defend the fucking place and it takes the US Army to come and rescue them… Never forget that the Alamo represents slavery the same way the Confederate flag does

Lot of boots in Texas which means a lot of bootstraps for them to use to pull themselves up!

In all seriousness, they should be getting aid and relief from the federal government. Thats what FEMA is for, that’s what the true American way should be; supporting each other and helping out where we can.

I wish the best for the residents of Texas but anybody there upset about not getting aid needs has only their local, state and federal government to blame. Unfortunately, some folks will get caught in the middle.

I’d like to see a law in place that says if a congressman votes against aid for another state during a disaster, then they must resign immediately after requesting aid for their own state during a disaster.

Put your money where you mouth is.

As long as it’s applied equally I could support this.

No Republicans roadblocking aid for blue states while promoting it for red, but also no blue states roadblocking aid to red states because “take more than they give”. Those behaviors only serve to hurt the people, regardless of their politics.

We had a real union before. If there was a natural disaster in California or Texas or Florida or New York, we all pitched in to help. That’s what federal taxes that go to FEMA do.

That’s breaking down. No matter why it’s happened or who is responsible, this is a bad sign.

In case that wasn’t clear, I’m cheering on the hopefully impeding dissolution of the US here. If America becomes a bunch of small to medium-sized state Great Satan might finally stop spreading death and destruction on the other side of the world. The more dysfunctional the Union becomes, the more states are going to want out, so yeah.

There’s no compelling reason why a state a big and wealthy as Texas can’t afford to manage natural disasters on this scale.

Their state leadership simply chooses not to do so. And the state media saturated the airwaves with “Nothing to be done, government would only make things worse” which… given the leadership of the state, isn’t even an unfair critique.
