Except for the bread, or lack thereof, most everything on the lasagna reminds me of pizza.

I don’t think of ricotta cheese as being on pizza. But, I’m pretty basic in that regard. I know it’s a thing, I just don’t consider it a typical topping.

It’s hard to mess up the combination of tomato sauce, meat, and cheese. Whether on pasta or bread, it works.

I don’t think of ricotta cheese as being on pizza.

when i lived in new jersey, i rented the apartment above a pizzeria that had a specialty ricotta pizza.

the pizza man owned the pizzeria and the building and the pizza was a recipe from his grandmother and he made everyone leave the pizzera whenever he made the marinara sauce for it to prevent the secret from getting leaked and the ricotta was delivered on an almost daily basis from a creamory/dairy an hour or so away.

he also grew some of his own vegetables and it was some of the best pizza i ever had – seeing your comment made my mouth water for it and it’s been 20 years since i’ve had it.

the marinara was slightly sweet and it went REALLY WELL w the ricotta in a way that sticks with you for decades… apparently. lol
