No they can actually fly, it’s just most birds are encouraged not to by their enclosure. So they simply don’t have the muscles to get much air. If you were to take the time to build up those muscles they would be able to fly.

Or they were kept in an enclosure that they could not exercise their wings. They don’t have the muscles to get off the ground. Parrots kept in a too small cage without being let out have the same problem. They could fly if they were allowed to build up those muscles.

They are ground birds so they spend most of their time on the ground, similar to turkeys and grouse. Domesticated chickens fly a bit less because of breeding for more meat. However, to say they can’t fly is just not true. A better choice would have been; a kiwi, steamer ducks, cassowary, kakapo, weka, takahe, or an emu.

The same reasons dogs work for us. They are domesticated animals, selective breeding for thousands of years. Then training, teach them when they are young to do complex tasks. They then enjoy the tasks because it makes us happy. Think of sled dogs, or seeing eye dogs. Not exactly a natural thing for them, but once they are trained they really enjoy it.

There are a mix in comics. The good are superheroes the bad are supervillians. And some of them are in the grey. Batman doesn’t kill, but has no problem beating the shit out of henchman. Voting in cities is crazy. Like hours long wait times, you have to be very determined to vote. In person voting is much easier in less densely populated areas. Cities tend to be more liberal.
