NewPipe was failing me today, so I reverted back to the YouTube app. After the first ad (20 seconds), the app gave me a permanent blur.

    I think YouTube was having issues. Try using NewPIpe again.

          I am having the same issue. It hasn’t worked at all lately and 9/10 videos tell me to open it in the browser.

          Yes, my fdroid says the last update is from februari 9

      I have NewPipe, PipePipe, Tubular (newpipe + sponsorblock) and Grayjay all installed. If one fails, i check the others, and if they all fail, i check /c/newpipe
