Ikr. It could be called rage-mine for things that some people took offensively.

I’ve tried both and had favored Ente for months but I eventually drifted towards Immich. The most obvious reason is that Ente isn’t optimal for self hosting. And it’s rather proof of concept to show they are committed to openness. On the other hand, Immich is built for self hosters.
Ente has client side encryption. That why I initially committed in order to respect privacy of my users. So if you care about the users. Go for it.

Games@lemmy.world•Anyone else get bored once they reach the final boss?English
3·2 months agoRelatable, although I still occasionally come back to BotW the journey was the big part. While for other games like Sekiro in which perfection makes it more thrilling, the repetition sort of makes sense.

9·5 months agoDon’t reverse proxies like pangolin just do the job? Does it have to be VPN in this particular concept? VPN isn’t like immune to vulnerabilities.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Changing to Openwrt router made my Homelab slower. Could you help me dissect the issue?English
1·8 months agohey thanks. I flashed openwrt since day-1. so I cannot comment on that. (And I personally bought this router specifically because people mention good thing about openwrt supports it)
I will be doing as you say just to check out but after every bit of resolution i could think of.

Linux@lemmy.ml•What would be your distro of choice if you take the security with ease as the top priority
1·10 months agoThanks for the thought process it’s really helpful and also reassuring since it’s quite similar to mine and yeah. Secureblue definitely sounds cool but I’m afraid it would not fit my dad’s need. In the end it’s gonna be up to whether I and my father can trust the maintainers or not

1·10 months agoFirst time hearing about Secureblue. And it sounds great. Though their motivation is quite welcome to see, I’m unsure if it will be actively maintained for a long time. It’s quite young project.
Off topic but I kinda want to know for future reference how you would
Back up everything, like taking an image of them at that point, including all apps, all files, all settings, every little thing, and then using that to restore them at a later date if needed?
On Android. I have tried so many things but found none.
Yup. At this point, I’d just want to run Linux like normal on modern MacBook. Man my m1 MacBook Air is still a beast and with all good hardware.
Yup, yup and yuuup. I can vouch this:
Feels really good, and in a different way than many fromsoft titles
Awesome to hear the dlc is good! I’m liking Lies of p more than I originally thought. So I might buy it too:)

3·2 years agoAgreed. Do I expect my mom to manually plug in the usb flash? She ain’t have slightest idea of what a file is. Same goes for Nextcloud everything and Syncthing. Setup and done is Immich. The lead dev of Immich explicitly mention his motivation was to make it easy to backup and share pics with his wife and child.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Which other disk backup solution do you recommend other than Clonezilla?English
1·2 years agoThank you! Great info. After some reading, I went with Rescuezilla which is yet another GUI for Clonezilla. I might give the foxclone next time!

Absolutely! I would have never been able to setup VLAN if it were not for this video!
