No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Sooo... This is happening on Imgur
90·2 months agoImgurians are an odd bunch but I’m glad they’re anti Nazi.
Very wholesome thread so far so I’ll keep it that way but if anyone can find the Mr. Coffee video that was on NewsFilter.org circa 2006 please PM me a link. Its haunted me for years.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•If you found someone attractive, would you date them if you found out they were trans?
32·5 months agoAnd yet that is the answer I most relate with.
I’m just using caddy and a cheap $2 a year .top domain with a $4 a month VPS. Works for my users, I only have 3 users on my server.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Plex staff leaving review on Play Store for PlexEnglish
1·9 months agoI keep an eye on my server and trust issues will be fixed in time as more and more users dump Plex.
Who knows what security issues Plex had and I ran that without issue. At least Jellyfin’s aren’t hidden.

1·9 months agoThis past week I switched my server to Jellyfin and migrated all my users over to it after I just happened across a thread a month ago about Plex charging for remote streaming on the 29th of April.
I never got an email from Plex about the change until April 29th… Scummy behaviour and I’m sure a lot of users and server owners bought their product in a panic as a result.
So far Jellyfin works perfectly, all my users are on Rokus and the app works perfectly on there.
Plex will only continue to get worse so I’m glad I made the jump.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•How's them tariffs goingEnglish
7·10 months agoStupidly malicious. Money is the main motivator and we’ve seen Trump do the dumbest shit to make it in the past, Trump steaks, Trump University, Trump Bibles etc.
Repeatedly crashing the economy in order to short it is right up his alley.

3·10 months agoIn a rational market that still adhered to fundamentals, sure. We are in the meme market era and have been for at least half a decade.
Companies like GameStop that should have went extinct years ago are still running purely off delusion.

56·11 months agoTrump and his circle have to be making billions shorting the market with this tariff sham he’s running every month.
There’s nothing else that makes sense and he’s going to play this yoyo tariff game as long as it keeps moving markets. Only way it might stop is if one of these controlled dips gets away from him and the bottom falls out of the market completely.
I just take 5,000 iu of vitamin D and skip the Sun business most days.
I was a jean sleeper up till my early 20s. Not sure why, it just felt right.
Now I can sleep in gym shorts or jeans but prefer shorts. Anything less than shorts and REM sleep doesn’t happen for me, my body doesn’t like having it’s guard down that much I guess.
Guppies have a Gonopodium AKA a fish dick because they give live birth.
You can see them flex it from time to time. Note the bottom fin moving on the colorful fish chasing after the fat drab female:

That’s just one species of livebearing fish but there are many others.
I remember when I did the switch in 2008 and never looked back.
I wasn’t far behind you. My first laptop around that time came with Vista installed. Didn’t take long for me to switch Ubuntu after that, haven’t been back to Windows since.

Technology@lemmy.ml•Omegle has shutdown with a thoughtful farewell from the founder
54·2 years agoWow that was a great read. Leif comes across as very perceptive on multiple fronts here.
Unfortunately I think his warning about the internet ending up like “souped up TV” is looking more likely by the day.
Right now it’s quite easy to force a site or service to bend the knee to outside pressure. No matter how right or wrong that pressure is. People will go after hosting and ISPs, if that doesn’t work they’ll tie people up directly in the courts. You must provide real contact info and be willing to play ball if you operate on the old web.
Embracing encryption is the only thing I can think to do to avoid that. Which honestly kind of sucks, because while true anonymity would save sites like Omegle who act in good faith and police themsevles in a reasonable manner, others that don’t will also be protected. I think the pros out weigh the cons with anonymity but that is a hard pill to swallow for many.

1 guy 1 jar is pure art. Shows the strength, resolve, and sheer fucking hubris of the human condition. Highly recommend everyone viewing it at least once. Plus the guy lived and was quite proud of his, achievement.
