  • First, stop referring to him as a ‘character’. Doing that makes you look insecure with your own situation. Next, understand his real question behind his words which is something more along the lines of “shouldn’t a career be more rewarding than just showing up?” Expecting that to be achievable for everyone in this day and age may be naive, but his idealism and wish for happiness is not a bad thing. He’s likely coming from a place of care rather than purposefully trying to antagonise you. I suspect you are mostly angry at his testing of your carefully built mental fortress, the one that insulates you from dwelling on the tedium and uninspired drudgery your future in that position offers.

  • “Impactful” is a heinous travesty of the language. I’ve actually seen “impactfulness” used too. Also bad is “impacts” … “the stock market has suffered several impacts due to low business confidence.” This cumbersome wording tries to amp up the drama. It’s much cleaner to say “The stock market has been affected by low business confidence.” Aside from the shock value of replacing “affected” with impacted, a metaphor for bodily collision, many have turned to impacted because the subtle difference between affected and effected intimidates them.

Be the better person. Avoid the hokey metaphor.

Btw, media uses “slammed” and “pounds” and other Batman words simply because they get more clicks than rebuked or chastized. Don’t be a headline writer.

  • The picture of the guy wearing the green sweat pants is wearing a t-shirt, so that’s not a fuckup. But the guy wearing the grey Izod with the sweatpants and sneakers is a major fuckup. A major big fuckup that says “I’m clueless”. If you want to spend your life lonely and depressed, go ahead wear that.

It’s just that I don’t wanna spend the majority of my life thinking how I should dress especially when I’m just going to the grocery store, as life is way too short for that.

This is where you’re not getting it… you think about it once. Get your style choices and wardrobe sorted. Then after that it’s just putting on clothes.
