really? I always assumed that was the norm for schools. I went to the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada and every year it was a massive thing getting internships and paid gigs with these places. It’s such an important thing we had an entire building on campus dedicated purely to it. for CS majors it was required for graduation.

if you’re not landing internships via your college then you’re attending a shit college. my old school has Google, Meta, OpenAI, Apple, Microsoft, etc setting up mini conventions on an annual basis hoping to snipe some UofW fresh grad to exploit.

The most basic and simplistic forms of joy from others sends them into a “woe is me” rage. They then MUST ensure said person or whomever defends said person be brought down into the same misery hole they dug for themselves.

And you can’t just say “oh just ignore them” I’m sorry but no, you can’t. I’m sure OP has tried taking that route several times but again these peoples entire lot in life is to ensure you become as miserable as they do. so you can’t ignore them.

I’m more than willing to pay a premium for a PC controller that isn’t going to have stick drift and will work a few years down the line. God knows how many xbox controllers I’ve gone through.

I trust Valve, I’ve used their product and played their games for decades and they’ve never let me down. they’ve made gaming on linux accessible and now extremely easy to set up and get going. $100 for a controller I will pay for.

meanwhile I update NixOS like once a month and it always seems some maintainer has pushed a broken dependency for something and thus borks my entire rebuild. Last month it was some dependency for Krita, This month it’s some dependency for Lutris.

I need to get off NixOS. while it makes doing hard things easy, it’s infuriating when the easy things break and break often. But It’s like some abusive relationship, I want to leave NixOS but i’m so god damn addicted/in love with it and I always end up going back.

Depends. do you want to go in chronological story line order or game release order. The RE games story wise generally all tie into each other and if you follow the story/lore closely you’ll get “oooooooh yeah I remember that” moments in different games.

You could start with RE 0 but then there are some things in that you won’t get until you play RE 1. So you could start with RE 1 and then do RE 0 so you can have “oooooh” moments in RE 0.

Personally I’d go RE 1, 0, 2, Code Veronica, 3. Rest of them you can play in order.

As far as FF7 vs Remake…go with the original FF7 first because some of the story elements in Remake won’t make sense unless you’ve played through FF7.

to be fair it was a console seller and A LOT of people bought the Wii just to play that at family gatherings and like inviting people over for dinner. My parents bought a Wii just for it and never bought another game for the Wii.

I was working at an EB Games when the Wii came out and a good chunk of people would just buy the console with no games attached to it. They just wanted Wii Sports. AND THEN when they brought out the new version of Wii Sports…man that thing sold like hot cakes.

I also pirated it and spent most if not all my time building ships. naturally had to use console codes to bypass the restrictions but that’s all I did.

the game itself? boring. the characters? bunch of god damn nerds. Like seriously your party are some of the most whiny unlikable characters in gaming. I didn’t care for any of them. AND THEN if you decide “oh I want to be a pirate and do bad things” they just whine even more about it.

she’s a teacher…that’s what scares me more. she’s teaching kids. And the even MORE scary thing is she hates kids. she refuses to have her own because, and I quote, she “can’t stand children”. Essentially she’s good at cramming/studying the lesson plans and then info dumping it on the kids. Now trying to get her to actually understand or teach you what’s she’s actually dumped onto the kids well after the fact? good luck. I tried that once. One week she taught the kids some subject on earth science, tectonic plates I believe, I asked her a week later at a family dinner about it because she brought it up. she couldn’t explain it. it was out of her mind already.

“book smarts” and “street smarts” are two completely different things. My sister is book smart. skipped a couple grades, went to university twice, once for her degree and again for her masters. She’s by all means well educated.

She’s dumb as a bag of rocks. She’s really good at studying. she’s a pro at it. but none of that knowledge is ever retained for extended periods of time. Once its “useful” i.e. for a test/exam/SAT/etc then it’s tossed out of her head. I can’t recall what she earned her masters in but if you challenge her to talk about it today she can’t. that’s the primary reason I can’t remember is because she literally is unable to talk about it.
