The only good thing about all this I suppose is I learned not needing to use turn signals in turn only lanes is a unique thing to my state, it seems like most other states do require them.

Turn signals are required, but not in a turn only lane. The question asked and answered wasn’t what’s being talked about here. Also it’s trivially demonstrable that turn signals are not required “anytime you are changing direction” in your vehicle otherwise you’d be constantly turning them off and on just driving down any random road as it curves back and forth. They’re required when you depart one lane for a different one. In a turn only lane you never depart the lane, it just becomes another lane. Finally quoting cops is a terrible defense as cops are per court decisions not actually required to know the law which is super fucked up, but that’s an entirely different discussion.

The clauses apply if the first one does which it doesn’t. Since you’re never turning from a direct course you don’t need to signal in the manner the following clauses describe. Since you’re never leaving the direct course, there’s no need to signal otherwise you’d need to use your turn signal every time you turn the wheel on your car even if you’re just following the road (which is what you’re doing in a turn only lane). You need to signal when entering the turn lane, but once in the lane you’re just following the lane (the direct course) and therefore don’t need to signal.

The only law in my state that requires usage of turn signals states this:

The key there is “direct course”. The direct course in a dedicated turn lane is the turn, so no signal is required. If it’s a turn or straight lane it is required as in that case the direct course is straight.

What law, that’s the point, no law requires usage of a turn signal in a turn only lane. There is no law that requires that and a driving test is testing that you’re following the laws. It’s the same as if you turned on your turn signal in a straight lane and then didn’t change lanes.

No it isn’t, you’re not required by law to use a turn signal in a turn only lane. If I was giving a driving test I’d fail you for using a turn signal in the turn only lane as it demonstrates you don’t know the law.

So that’s a difficult question to answer. I’ve actually used Linux dual boot off and on a bunch of times over the years, but I’ve always kept my main desktop on Windows because as I said it’s my gaming system. I’ve tried a bunch of distros and they all involve tradeoffs.

My personal favorite is any Arch based distro because it’s usually easy to get up to date versions of anything you need. The flip side of that though is that it can be more unstable and fixing things when they break is often a bit more technical. The install process can also be a bit intimidating for a newcomer (although it’s really not that hard). I’m currently using Garuda which is a gaming focused version of Arch.

On the more traditional side you’ve got a lot of options. Mint is a popular recommendation for newcomers. I think Pop!_OS is also a really good option despite the really unfortunate experience Linus (Sebastian not Torvalds) had when trying it out.

About the only things I’d recommend staying away from would be Gentoo (nobody has time for that), NixOS (cool in theory, a nightmare to actually daily drive), and pretty much anything Fedora based (I’ve had lots of problems with RPM based distros in the past and libraries and programs are often many versions behind).

I finally had enough about a year ago and decided to bite the bullet and just install Linux. I honestly expected to run into all kinds of problems, particularly since I primarily use my desktop for gaming, but I’ve been very surprised how few problems I’ve actually had. It’s certainly not been completely problem free, but I wouldn’t say I’ve encountered more problems with Linux than I have in Windows. Different problems for sure, but not more, and honestly about equally difficult to fix.

.android is either from the Android SDK, or possibly Android Studio so blame either Google or IntelliJ. .vscode is Visual Studio Code which is made by Microsoft so your guess is as good as mine on that one. .eclipse is Eclipse and is a Java IDE approximately the age of dirt and might actually pre-date the AppData folder existing. .ssh is OpenSSH and has been around long enough on the *nix side of things that it might pre-date both AppData and the XDG folder conventions. Not sure about most of the rest.

It has been suggested that’s part of the reason for the price surge. A lot of people just aren’t buying from McDumpster anymore and so in order to hit the same levels of year over year profit increase they’ve raised their prices to make up for lost sales. So they have significantly fewer people paying significantly more money for the same shitty food. Ultimately this will lead to a death spiral, but they’re so massive it’s going to take a really really long time before they hit the bottom.

Should check out the Gulikit controllers. Not only do they not suffer from stick drift, they’re the same form factor as an Xbox controller but without the MS bullshit. Was just using one in Linux not even an hour earlier.

It’s also just a good policy in general. Anytime you receive a communication that’s prompting you to do something that you weren’t expecting to receive you should ignore any links, phone numbers, replies, etc. in that communication and instead reach out using a known good mechanism. Doing that one thing stops the overwhelming majority of scams in their tracks.
