I thought I was annoying when arguing. Still do, but I found someone worse. Doesn’t make me feel better, because it seems I’m sharing a table with them.
Yeah, I think it’s just funny comparing it with the usual situation on Linux, where there’s even less restrictions. I believe you can actually put a newline in a file name, for example, though I’ll need to check and come back later.
I’d need to rename a massive amount of files if I ever wanted to go back to Windows.

When I have the time and energy, that is. A lot of my comments are just me adding what I hope is relevant context or correcting what I assume is accidental misinformation.
I understand reducing visibility of “bad” content, I’m just not sure the tool is worth its negative side effects.
Hey, I agree that MV3 brings benefits (such as better security for the extension ecosystem) and has technical merit, but it’s worth noting that uBlock’s main dev themselves said it won’t work as well. uBO Lite doesn’t work fine, it works. It’s also worse.
And the same fundamental issue that affects ublock (the new API limits) affects everyone else trying to do the same job using extensions.
The more I see how people use downvotes, the less I like them as a feature in general. I don’t downvote things anymore.
Downvotes as they are seem like outdated design on the human interaction level. They fail to iterate on years of knowledge gained since their inception.
Keep in mind that Opera is a shady company. Please avoid their products if you’re able and willing.
You should not use anything from Opera. The company is chasing trends, and its most successful ventures in recent history have been ripping off poor people in developing countries and marketing to gamers with a meme social media account. The company’s failed experiments have been abandoned without directly informing users, leaving them at increased risk of security problems.

I really want there to be more options in the browser market that aren’t Blink based (or WebKit, sorry Apple), but the situation’s tough.
Sometimes, there are already resources explaining more clearly and thoroughly than we could. And although I’m unsure if this case qualifies, there are definitely topics that can’t be reduced to a few sentences. Thus, a reputable link is often worth more to both sides: it saves the explainer time and effort while informing the target far better.
If you don’t want to engage with the content, I believe there are better ways to go about it than being rude to people who were likely trying to help.

I assumed your first comment was a complaint that they were posting in too many communities. I was disagreeing and presenting why I think that assessment would be incorrect, and sneakily trying to hint that you might want to consider a different app/frontend if this was bothering you.
I only found three posts, all in (at least) semi-relevant communities. I think my frontends of choice only show me one, then reference the others below as crossposts.
That’s a weird way to look at the projects, in my opinion (“if only X had Y, it would kill Z…”).
Helix and Neovim have different approaches to editing, configuration, etc. They don’t need to be competing for users. Neovim can exist for the people who want an editor with Neovim’s ideas, same for Helix, and that’s just fine.
Had a sound issue: output device options only listed “Dummy Output” and nothing was listed for input devices. I eventually got my headset to be recognized again, but sadly couldn’t tell you what did it, since I tried so many things and I lack proper understanding of the Linux sound scene.
Just in case it’s useful to someone, here’s a collection of ideas I found while working through the issue:

…Also, here’s a gentle reminder to test your sound device with other equipment and try different ports/adapters, if available. Wasn’t my case, but sometimes stuff simply breaks at inopportune times.

Discussions are better when those who intend to participate read the content first. Realistically, though, we know many read the headline and jump straight into comments. I think that’s a culture issue, and that’s difficult to fix.
The bot can alleviate its impact by giving these people more context. Without changing culture, however, removing the bot from these discussions could ironically make them worse. At least, that’s how I see it.
I don’t really like it, but I believe it helps.
What actually confused me, though, is that if you lump in some privacy/accessibility/convenience concerns, I could kinda see the point of a “Saved 0%” tldr.
But, on a phoronix article? They’re one of the few tech journalism websites I still trust and am grateful for, that I turn uBlock off for. It’s like I’m missing some context, I need more info.
On the other hand, an isolated community can also become a nasty brewing pot, reinforcing harmful behaviors and even intensifying them over time.
I don’t think calling them safe spaces for hateful assholes is accurate, but I understand frustrations with them.
