“nice dick bro”

Only English is ticked… Don’t worry mate, I already solved the problem!

I just block meme-posters and meme communities and my Fediverse stays interesting as a result. No need to convince/wait for the world to change when I can conveniently block the slop myself, it’s one of the most appreciated features of PieFed/Lemmy imho.
Recall that whole db0 defederation of feddit.org? Was not a problem for me at all because I had already blocked the instance long before the whole thing kicked off simply because I didn’t speak German and didn’t want my feed full of German posts I couldn’t understand anyway.

Sounds like Reddit is a better fit for you then.

Sarcasm can be conveyed non-verbally. Through facial expressions, gestures or situational context for example. The core concept is not bound to specific languages but to the social/cognitive ability of the communicators, I’d say. Young children have a very hard time with sarcasm, regardless of where they’re born.

They absolutely do. Even within the same language, regional accents can have very different prosodies.
I recall reading a Nature article iirc about how neonatal cry melody can reflect prenatal exposure to parental language! How nuts is that!? Brains are cool.

shitting the fan

Huh, like a more disastrous and direct combo-approach. I like it.

The ones that go up that high is mainly because of the 2TB storage space but you also get all the modern bells and whistles.

It could mean “It’s just the same old shit but with 5 new heroes next week”
It’s this new trend of making a confusing headline so people click it for clarification.

Headline is a poor attempt at saying they are renaming it to just ‘Overwatch’ without the 2.

Looked up prices for these and they’re all around $120, modded iPods ranging between $150-$900 and Sony Walkman one is around $900.
