Which makes it extra amusing to me that they coat the pins or whatever with plastic so you cant accidentally touch live while inserting it.

Fun fact, the only reason North America can get away with our dinky plugs and sockets is because we only run 120V (typically). Anything here that’s 240V will have a much beefier plug and socket, more similar to the UK plugs. Heres a 240V/30A and a 240V/50A. These don’t bother with the coated pins because it would typically be plugged in once behind a big appliance and never touched again.

I’m always afraid to test ESC during a cutscene because I’ve been burned by games that auto skip cutscenes when you hit ESC. Who does that.

2·11 days agoHalitosis was already the medical term for bad breath, with evidence of its use in England. All that word did was give an American businessman/marketer a polite euphemism to talk about something that was considered taboo at the time (body odors were associated with poor hygiene and lower status people). It does seem like they pushed hard with marketing to make it into a more widespread “problem” though.

3·12 days agoMy sister used to only eat a steak if it was charred black and covered in ground black pepper. Not sure if that’s “better” or worse than burnt bacon.

4·12 days agoI was born in the late 80s, grew up in the 90s and 2000s, and it’s both fascinating and terrifying to me how much of what I thought was just “standard” stuff was influenced by marketing 50-100 years before I was even born. Santa Clause as a jolly old man with rosy cheeks and a snow white beard wasn’t a big thing until Coca-Cola made it part of their advertising in the 30s. The bacon with breakfast thing was the result of a food packaging company in the 1920s hiring a man named Edward Bernays to help them sell more bacon. Bernays was allegedly so good at marketing/manipulation that people like Hitler and Goebbels kept copies of his books. Orange juice became a thing because orange producers in Florida in the early 1900s made too many oranges for the market (in an attempt to beat out California as the country’s orange production state), and juicing them was considered a better alternative to reducing production.

1·12 days agoHave you seen Archer? It’s an animated comedy but it hits some of the same vibes, at least for the first 3-4 seasons. Things get… weird after that.

16·12 days agoBurn Notice. I dont know what it is but it’s like watching a version of “How It’s Made” from a fictional universe. All of the voiceovers about spycraft are bullshit but my brain just buys it for whatever reason.
Also, can’t belive I forgot this, but “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”.
Yeah, i’ve heard them called “breakfast bars”. The condo I rented years ago had one of these cutouts.
that’s like 300 dollars worth of vanilla these days D=
She did some “erotic modeling” after the show that’s out there on the interwebs, if you’re interested.
Yeah they will rehydrate the flower to the right level and give you a bit more bulk and flavor.
I added THCa to my original post, but the decarboyxlation process is how the various acids (the A at the end) in the plant break down, yeah. I wouldn’t really call it degrading, but THC can degrade over time if exposed to oxygen or light, or stored somewhere too dry. They sell these little saltwater packet humidor things from some company called Boveda. After drying and curing, you throw the pack in a mason jar along with your flower and then you can store it for up to a year without losing much quality.

The chemical production actually occurs in the trichomes themselves, so you need unfertilized female flowers, or at least sugar leaves, to (eventually) produce THC. Although the plant doesnt directly produce THC, it produces things like CBGa and THCa which get broken down through a process called decarboxylation (removing the carboxyl group from a molecule and replacing it with hydrogen.) into CGB and THC. The most common way to decarb it is with heat through smoking, vaping or cooking but some decarboxylation also happens naturally over time during the curing process after harvest.

I was unfortunately in the hospital for a week or so when these were starting to flower and they got really stressed out from lack of water but they came out alright in the end.
