My current cat does not help with bugs. One time a giant centipede looking thing came into the bedroom, on the ceiling. He looked at it, got up, and left the room.

I see a lot of Nirvana shirts on the youth and I’m never sure if they like the band or just the shirt, either.
I did see a blue-haired youth with a My Chemical Romance shirt the other day and I’m pretty sure they were a sincere fan, though.
If that’s the case, I imagine it would be better to charge people for frivolous use, rather than charge everyone. Or come up with a system where dispatch sends something else for non-emergency, if you can tell.
I’m not a policy expert, but the current system is bad for everyone.
I don’t believe there is a problem of people needlessly calling ambulances.
If that was the case, the appropriate response would not be to charge everyone bank breaking fees for it.
Ehh. It’s hard for me to relate to low executive function, but you’re not wrong.
I think the key metric isn’t time to reply. The stakes matter- replying quickly to a meme is less important than, like, making plans. If someone isn’t responsive about if they want to go, then I probably don’t get a ticket for them, and they can’t come to the show with us. Sorry. You were busy.
And the quality is also important. I’ve got friends that will reply like a day or two later, but then we usually have a whole conversation.
If someone is replying every few days with “lol” tier responses, it’s going to feel like a waste of my time.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•The price of soda in 2017English
31·3 days agoI’m happy I never developed a soda habit.
I pretty much only buy snacks and junks for parties. A normal sized bag of chips was like $7 yesterday. The smaller tostitos were labeled like $5.50.
I’d love to see some sort of general strike or mass boycott, but there’s not enough organization, and things aren’t bad enough for it to happen en masse spontaneously.
I’d never heard of this person before, except last night at a party someone mentioned them. No one else had heard of him. I’m okay not knowing who online people are.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Lemmings who order cheese pizzas, have you always just ordered cheese pizzas or is that something that happened with age?
3·5 days agoI think a plain cheese pizza is slightly different than a margherita pizza. It won’t typically have the basil leaves, and the cheese is more uniform.
I’m thinking of like dollar slice pizza. Like these https://secretnyc.co/seamless-dollar-cheese-slice/
But I’m not a pizza-ologist.

3·5 days agoSpeaking on behalf of a friend, as I prefer toppings: they discovered that a variety of things give them body problems, and it’s easier to just do a plain cheese pie than to try to guess if peppers are going to upset their body today.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Lemmings who order cheese pizzas, have you always just ordered cheese pizzas or is that something that happened with age?
11·5 days agoThe antithesis of a cheese pizza is a pizza with toppings. It’s an idiom, so I wouldn’t recommend thinking too hard on it.
Yeah I was ready to agree. I worked with some people that would use vanilla sublime, and then get mad when their PRs were rejected for having problems. I was like, just use something that finds errors or run the linter/etc yourself. Nope. Their workflow is perfect now just accept this PR with all the unused variables.

I didn’t really like doom2016 or eternal that much, either. Too much start-and-stop.

9·6 days agoMicrosoft and Bethesda are creatively incompetent. They don’t really want to say anything. They just want a funny theme park full of kitschy shit so they can pander to fans.
They’re fucking soulless morons.
The first fallout was interesting because it was pretty fresh. The 2nd was a bigger exploration, with some interesting questions about remnants. I don’t really remember 3 but it had some weird narrative problems, I think.
New Vegas actually asked a new interesting question: who rebuilds after?
And then 4 just shits the bed because Bethesda has no soul. It’s also mechanically a mess. Power armor in the intro, except it sucks? Fuck everyone who thought that was a good idea.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•Battle.net's discord permissionsEnglish
5·6 days agoI’m happy not using blizzard or other Microsoft products.
I bet they’ll try to buy discord soon.
I read the meaning as someone thinking it weird to text back immediately. That was the offense. As if you should play it cool and wait to respond.
I personally respond quickly if I’m holding my phone and the message comes in, usually.

I remember as a kid I was so excited when I got a blue chocobo in FF7 (I’m old) I ran upstairs to tell my mother. She did not care, nor pretend to care. Made me a little sad, and what could have been a nice moment did not materialize.
I try to listen to the children in my life. If little nephew wants to tell me about his robots and pokemon, I’ll be there and try to engage
