Bro… this is a fucking wild comment I hope it’s satirical.

Lol I’m pretty shaky on the details too, but I definitely think there’s some really good ideas in there once you can parse all the philosophical lingo. I hadn’t even heard about the rhizome until you mentioned it, but it does seem like a useful concept for sure.
Gilles Deleuze
I only found out about him within the past couple years, and I probably have only scratched the surface of his philosophy. But I almost immediately understood that he was a person of tremendous genius, and historically recent enough that his ideas have yet to be fully comprehended. His synthesis of Marx and Freud is like a wet dream for me, I couldn’t imagine a better topic of inquiry. This article provides a pretty good summary of some of his major ideas and theories.
Interesting, thanks for the detailed reply. I haven’t remembered my dreams in many years. Definitely think it’s time to take an extended break, and then if I start to experience a loss of creativity maybe I will dip my toes back in eventually.
Also I mainly smoke joints/spliffs so it’s really bad for my lungs, if I do start again I’ll probably switch to vaping because it’s more healthy.
I smoke too much. It’s difficult for me to use in moderation. I’ve got shit to do and it’s hard to find the motivation when I’m always high.
You good my dude?
I’m going to try to stop smoking weed. Wish me luck 🤞
I’m on the side that wants to produce meaningful change for human society. I want to help people.
If you just want to kill people without thinking or caring about the consequences, then I guess we aren’t on the same side.
I’m on your side. You’re speaking out of desperation, lashing out instinctually.
But as I said before, directionless anger will not get you far. You and those like you will surely fail, and all of your rage will amount to nothing.
As they say, when you come at the king, you best not miss. As bad as you feel the situation is now, it could be far, far worse.
We’ve been sitting on a powder keg for a while. It doesn’t take many people to start some shit - a few more assassinations and things will change fast.
Things will change for the worse. We just elected Donald Trump and the government is controlled by conservatives. How exactly are you expecting them to react to CEOs getting assassinated? You think they’re going to come to the table and work out a plan for universal healthcare, a compromise?
Fuck no, they’re going to fight fire with fire. And they’ve already proved they can manufacture consent from average Americans by taking advantage of their stupidity to make them go against their best interests.
I’m sorry for your loss, but this nonsense isn’t going to bring anyone back, it’s just going to lead to even more suffering and violence.
A successful revolution takes a whole lot more than bloodlust and directionless anger. The emotion is there, but there is no revolutionary framework or ideology in place to direct that feeling towards meaningful change. This seeming “unity” is ephemeral, it’ll be forgotten as soon as the next media cycle starts.
The recent killing of the UHC CEO seems to have pushed all the right buttons in activating people’s bloodlust and mob mentality. But I actually looked at some of the threads on reddit after being a bit taken aback by the reaction on Lemmy, and redditors were being just as violent. So I don’t think it’s Lemmy getting more radical, it’s just the flavor of the week right now to celebrate violence, as long as it’s against the bad guys.
I definitely have to admit some pro JFK bias as an Irish American 😅
But I obviously also have rationales for why I think he was a great president. Foremost among them is that I feel he was a truly independent political force that was beholden neither to his party nor to external interests. His popularity, wealth, and personal relationship with the American people gave him the potential to do radical things against the wishes of the entrenched oligarchy, which is possibly why he was assassinated. He demonstrated a willingness and a capacity to upend the established order.
William Henry Harrison is often considered among the worst for the simple reason that he did die. Put on a coat mah boi, we didn’t elect your ass to get a cold and die instantly.
because lemm.ee is still federated with both hexbear and 'grad and .world and the more pro western servers which helps me train my critical thinking and arguing
I wish hexbear was more into debating and less into memeing. I find that they tend to run away from serious debate and prefer to troll. Honestly lemmygrad has seemed less annoying to me than hexbear lately because they seem more likely to take things seriously and make legitimate arguments. I don’t see too much of them because I’m usually on my main account and sjw blocks them.
I use my account at lemmy.myserv.one in a similar way to your lemm.ee account, but since I’m an admin here I end up spending way more time on this account.
JFK would have been top 5 if he hadn’t been gunned down 2 years into his presidency 😭
I prefer talking about the best, talking about the worst just makes me depressed.
Do we have yous/youse? According to my understanding that’s technically not a real word yet, it’s slang.
I feel like y’all is the newer American version of 2nd person plural, while yous/youse/yinz are the non-American English counterparts.
I have always used you guys in a gender neutral manner historically, but people occasionally got offended by that. So I started using y’all several years ago and it’s been going pretty good. Although I did initially spell it like ya’ll until someone corrected me on reddit 😅
Yeah most of the ones in the second list at least had a couple of notable things about them that kept them off the first list. I was hoping people with local experience would chime in if they had reason to dispute my rankings; I’m sure there’s some cool aspects of these cities that I might not be aware of.
Carson City is nearby Lake Tahoe which is pretty awesome. Lansing is actually a decent sized city and has Michigan State University. Topeka is reasonably close to KC, and presumably has some other notable features 😅
Montgomery and Jackson are pretty dire but there’s not really any better cities/options in Alabama or Mississippi, so I gave them an A for effort.
There’s honestly a lot of lame state capitals in the US, Europeans might be surprised. In Europe the national capital of each country is typically the biggest and most cosmopolitan city. This is not the case when it comes to state capitals in the US. Several of the most boring ones (Montpelier, Augusta, Pierre) have already been mentioned, so I’ll just add a few others.
Indubitably Boring
Slightly Less Boring (honorable mentions)
Wow, that’s a crazy experience. Somebody jumped in and saved you?
Holy chrimbus! Nice activity bro. You’re like ThePicardManeuver of cats and anime
Heh, you old af. My condolences.
But at least that’s a nice round number.
