I’m not sure either. I think arch used to be one of the less popular distros (because of the more involved install process, solved now by the arch-based distros with friendly installers), despite having some of the best features, so it required more “evangelism”, that’s unecessary now. Arch-based distros are now some of the most popular ones, so its not necessary.

Others have commented on why its so great, but the AUR + Rolling releases + stability means that arch is one of the “stable end states”. You might hop around a lot, but its one of the ones you end up landing on, and have no reason to change from.

In that case flatpak is basically a hack for OS’s with broken or improper dependency manangement systems. Either those OS’s should fix their broken systems, or ppl should move to OS’s that do it properly, as that’s one of the most important functions of your OS anyway.

Which ones? Everything in the arch main repos are compiled for your system, and most things in the AUR can either be built from source, or have -bin installs.

Around me we get a lot of nut hatches, and titmouses which are my fav. They have little mohawks, and are quirky, but brave, as I’ve seen them do david and goliath standoffs with much bigger birds like crows. Not my pic but here’s one

I’d really love to get into that, especially bird photography as it’s been fun to try to learn bird calls and try to spot them. Nature really recharges the brain in a way nothing else can. Esp for those of us who are goal oriented or always feeling the need to be accomplishing something, being out in nature helps us drop all the expectations and distractions.

Doing any nature related activities away from screens, whether it be daily walks, gardening, hiking, kayaking, mountain climbing, swimming, camping is really good for both mental and physical health.

In that blue zones documentary, it’s said that daily walks and daily gardening help your mind and longevity more than any other activity.

Learning a musical instrument is always good, and is something you can show off. Knitting, crocheting, or any kind of ravelry works your mind, and you can also listen to audiobooks while doing it. Woodworking (you can start small, even doing spoons and things).

I wouldn’t be too focused on doing mentally challenging activities. Screens wear out our brains enough, and what we really need is time away from them to recharge.

Outside of that I’d just recommend reading a lot of non-fiction, audiobooks where available.

Americans call them leftists only because centrists are slightly to the left of right-wing politics.

We’re against liberalism as a whole because it’s the ideology that justifies capitalism. We’re against social liberals because they’re seen as fence-sitting cowards and dangerous compromisers.

Canada’s two main parties are both right-wing. They support capitalism, and the rule of capitalists over the economy and government. The canadian conservative party agrees with them in that.

Or look at Australia. Their two main parties are Labour vs the liberal party (both are pretty right wing, but in that country the liberals openly position themselves to the right of the other party).

Or take Japan. Their far right party is called the liberal democrats.
