Another one of these? Honestly I’m not even mad. Mostly H O R N Y.
My old man loves Steely Dan. Great memories of bopping along to their music with him as kid. Always had to listen to one of their albums minimum every road trip. Everyone call your Dad!!

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why do people call Fiji and Voss Water “Rich People” Water?English
13·4 个月前Expensive is subjective. I think paying for any bottled water, especially the ‘designer’ brands like these (for lack of a better term) is a scam. Just get a water filter for home or drink from the tap and enjoy that sweet sweet fluoride.
Speaking for myself, it’s because I interpret the post as using sensationalist, biased language. Right or wrong, I don’t value content that tries to manipulate the readers perception that way.

3·10 个月前See, I’m torn. On one hand, I feel like this ‘us vs. them’ mentality contributes to the sort of tribalism that ultimately results in movements like MAGA popping up. If these people can only operate in MAGA-friendly spaces, they’ll rarely speak to anyone who disagrees with them, and will have no reason to reflect on their worldview.
Then I read the news. If current events aren’t enough to convince them that they’re misguided, I’m not sure that anything will.
I’m not sure I know what the solution is, but it’s been an interesting discussion.

32·10 个月前That’s fair, I can definitely understand that position and agree with you on the NK apologists.
From my point of view, I think it’s more productive to interact with people I disagree with, in the (possibly naive) pursuit of changing their minds. If people are kicked out for their views, I’d imagine many of them will just double down and act like a martyr.
To be clear, I’m not saying we shouldn’t call these people out and downvote them – that’s why that function exists right? But maybe once in a while, something that we argue will resonate with them.
Of course there are limits to that approach, and this all hinges on the other person arguing in good faith. Based on the OP’s post history, I’ll admit that I may be barking up the wrong tree in this case.

18·10 个月前Man, I don’t like MAGA either. I think they represent pretty much everything that’s wrong with society today…
But for a community that talks so often about disliking echo chambers, it really seems like most Lemmy users want an echo chamber.

Also, anyone who calls someone a ‘fag’ is a complete fucking moron. I doubt things will improve for them with so few brain cells to work with.
It’s important to touch grass now and again, friends.

Games@lemmy.world•HELP! Im looking for a game like CIV 6 where the point is to go to warEnglish
6·1 年前Crusader Kings 3 is my favourite game like this. I wouldn’t say the point is to go to war, but it’s a pretty big part of the experience. Has a lot of DLC but you can definitely have a ton of fun with the base game if you don’t want to commit to that.

I tried completing this quest but the loot was terrible.
