The TikTok ban is something Mark Zuckerberg lobbied for. It’s not a good thing.
Relatively normal
The TikTok ban is something Mark Zuckerberg lobbied for. It’s not a good thing.
I’m on lemmy.ml and most of the communities I interact with are on lemmy.world. Most people are normal about it.
A TikTok ban would consolidate more power into the hands of Mark Zuckerberg and Meta. Arguably, that’s worse.

It’s pretty concise, actually.
Check out Bazzite. It even has a GNOME variant.
Unfortunately, Bridgy Fed is currently opt-in. For a Bluesky user to interact with a Mastodon user, both have to follow the Bridgy Fed account. There is ongoing discussion about Mastodon instance opt-in, and making Bluesky opt-out.
I highly encourage you to participate in this conversation as a Mastodon user.
Well you can nicely ask your instance admin to block Bridgy Fed
Bluesky’s ActivityPub support is also leagues better than Threads because of Bridgy Fed. At least a Bluesky user and a Mastodon user can follow each other and have a back-and-forth conversation.
Blame Apple I guess
As a matter of fact, Bluesky originally was supposed to become Twitter’s back end, but it was spun off when Elon took over. Jack Dorsey left and is now promoting nostr and X.
Bluesky is way more approachable than Mastodon. Most people don’t want to have to learn what an instance is.
I think it belongs at the very bottom of the page.
It’s really annoying and I don’t trust it

I just saw an article about Google adding pop-ups during navigation to Google Maps.

The Philadelphia Inquirer has. The problem is that Donald Trump and his supporters don’t care what the editorial boards of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the New York Times, or the Washington Post have to say about him.
People here just downvote anything they don’t like even if it’s in its own community
Depends on the server you’re on. Lemmy found popularity when a group of communists had their subreddit(s)banned
That’s actually part of the reason why the original devs started Lemmy.
According to fedidb.org, Lemmy has plateaued at around 43k active users over the past year.
If you ask me, though, it doesn’t matter. The Lemmy ecosystem is active and healthy.
