It’s kinda hard to look at what’s currently happening in the US and not feel like every person who failed to vote against trump is a bit of an asshole. What a nightmare we all have to live through now.

Those look amazing, but how is it different in regards to sugar plantations? Aren’t they both effectively topped with glaze, either wet or pearled?

In the Bible story God made the first set, but they were destroyed by Moses in a meltdown. Moses had to carve the rewritten replacements which are the ones that get written down.

Regardless of whether someone thinks Moses is historical, the story itself is a coup of sorts.

It’s kinda messed up reasoning, but it does check out with national obesity statistics:

• Non-Hispanic Black: 49.6%
• Hispanic: 45.6%
• Non-Hispanic White: 41.4%

Even then there’s so much overlap in human dimorphism that it’s not an exact science, there’s still like a 5-10% error rate in sexing perfectly preserved pelvic bones. Accurate enough for anthropology, but that’s a big error rate to apply to individuals.

The prisoners Bush had sent to Egypt were not sent from the US, they were sent from different countries that allowed extradition to Egypt. It was disgusting and abhorrent, but it isn’t the same thing as what we’re seeing now.

Flying people from the US to foreign prisons without due process is a blatant violation of the constitution.

Since studying machine learning I’ve become a lot less opposed to AI as a concept and specifically opposed to corporate/cloud LLMs.

Like a simple on-device model that helps turn speech to text isn’t something to be opposed, it’s great for privacy and accessibility. Same for the models used by hospitals for assistive analysis of medical imaging, or to remove background noise from voice calls.

People don’t seem to think of that as ‘AI’ anymore though, it’s like these big corporations have colonized the term for their buggy wasteful products. Maybe we need new terminology.

I use my GPU mostly for gaming and computer science. I will say that ROCm from AMD is seriously giving Cuda a run for its money, and it’s fully open source. AMD cards also tend to be better per dollar.

Same, I’ve been using Debian only for the last 15 or so years. I love the stability, and the old software isn’t hard to work around when newer versions are needed.

I hate the lack of support from Nvidia. I prefer AMD cards though, and they give zero trouble.
