I have some terrible news for you.

People will continue to do that. It happens all over the world, one group calling something they’ve invented a “Spanish” this or “American” that.

I’ve seen “American Pizza” served in Japan with hot dogs and corn and a bbq sauce. I’ve seen “Korean beef” as basically a spicy alternative to Mongolian beef. None of these dishes originate in the country they’re named for, and the people from those countries would probably recoil at the thought of all of them.

It’s just a thing people do, have always done, and will continue to do.

That, at present, is where the wealth is coming from.

If the Fed just keeps printing money, eventually that too loses all value. It needs to actually be able to buy things. Sure it’s backed by US securities and bonds, but if the US isn’t capable of collecting taxes, because it’s people aren’t making any money and have started to barter amongst themselves, then they can issue all the bonds and bills they want and it won’t mean a damn thing.

Money is their only real leverage. They’re racing to find the minimum amount of money they can give us and still maintain that leverage.

There’s a critical point in wealth disparity where money begins to lose value. As the amount of wealth that can be extracted from the working class dwindles and the people who have too little find other ways to barter with each other.

Fun fact, we have already seen an early attempt at this. And while I think we’re still a ways away, it’s not exactly without precedent.

There are still 47 other states. I know I know, it’s hard to believe but most of the US is not in Texas California and Florida. Most people’s commute is still about 27 minutes.

I know a guy that still does that.

The average commute in the US is just under 27 minutes or so. So while those commutes do exist, they aren’t typical.

I know it’s hard to believe this but most of the US does exist outside of Texas.

Most commutes are under half an hour. Comfort over an 8 hour day will have a far greater impact on productivity than not sitting in a car for 25 minutes before you get to work.
