  • Humans have been doing the whole sulfur dioxide thing for decades. In 2020 cargo ships began to use fuels with less sulfur in them to reduce sulfur dioxide output. The result, was a marked increase in sea surface temperatures because the aerosols used to help block some of the sunlight.

It’s arguable to call it geoengineering as that implies purposeful engineering is ongoing. Whereas we were literally just burning sulfur rich fuels for cargo ships.

The reason people associate it with chemtrails is because sulfur dioxide is touted as a key component in the exhaust trails left behind by aircraft. While there may be trace amounts of the stuff in jet exhaust, this is not purposeful geoengineering as it’s just a byproduct of fossil fuel use. A more visible one because it’s easy to look up in the sky and see planes leaving trails compared to seeing the faint haze left behind by cargo ships in the middle of the ocean.

Cloud seeding is a thing in very small regional efforts for promoting cloud cover and even rainfall. And these are purposefully done to achieve those two outcomes. Usually they’re done near dry places that have too much sun and not enough water. Despite some of these operations taking place, their effects are miniscule when compared to the scale of global operations that aren’t trying to purposefully do any geoengineering.

  • The whole ethnic identity is mostly to identify where in the world you ethnically originated from to other Americans. Because almost every single person in the US is either an immigrant, or a descendent of one. So we identify to each other where we came from as Americans.

Where people go wrong with this is if they happen to be traveling internationally and take this US centric identity with them. If traveling internationally, you could be ethnically from the place you are traveling. But in that context, you’d be American. This is a part of that whole well traveled awareness thing.

The genealogy thing is their curiosity in tracing that ethnic origin with greater detail. I personally don’t find it too interesting myself, but different strokes.

Edit: I’d like to add, this is mostly in case other people reading this thread are wondering why this is even a thing. It’s truly an annoying behavior.

  • I think the reason it’s so prevalent here in the US is because the vast majority of the population ended up here at least in part due to immigration. So identifying as ethnically originating from elsewhere is a part of that self identity.

The disparity however, is knowing that while traveling through Europe, this style of self identification falls flat because simply being ethnically from a place doesn’t mean you can claim to be born and raised from there. And that meaning is what’s different between the US and Europe.

  • 4, 5, 9.

4 because while the process might be painful, aside from the process it’s not an extreme change. And because I needed to pick 3 and only 3 options.

5 because that super strength would certainly come in handy if it’s controllable. It would suck if everything gets absolutely crushed by accident the moment you attempt to interact with it.

9 because why the hell not. You can’t be happy all the time, and the rest of the options seem to be a net negative. So at least being able to live comfortably or account for #5 would be okay
