So is everybody just snapping at each other more? Like is the friend group more angry? I’m kind of confused at the nature of the toxicity. But it does feel like the pressure of society making people a lot more tired and stressed, quick to snap. I’ve notice the same thing with some of friends of mine, and it’s unfortunate =(

Wasn’t there some companion game to EVE Online that was supposed to be like that?

I loved Final Fantasy IX but sometimes I think I dreamed it because no one else ever talks about it, just VI, VII, and then over to X usually lol.

I’d also recommend !trendingcommunities@feddit.nl. They seem to find some pretty good communities.

Reddit does get super echo chamber-y in some places, though. Check out any thread in /r/worldnews lately and all the comments. They’re all of the same opinion. At least on Lemmy I see disagreement. I see as many complaints about tankies on Lemmy as I do tankies themselves, for example. The only one I’ve seen in this thread has all their comments in the negative.

I agree and have noticed the same things. I don’t think Lemmy is big enough to attract the state sponsors yet like Reddit is but it will probably be susceptible to the same issues when it is.

Just use this to find communities.

It’s hilarious for all the “democracy” the US loves to “export”, it actually has a pretty terrible democracy. Wildly popular policies have no way to make their way to the government unless a rich person or corporation also lobbies for it.

Like others I mostly miss the discussions in my old niche hobby subs. Luckily a lot seem to have communities here, they just need more participation.

If you considered nothing that’s happened since the beginning, maybe, but a lot has happened since then, including a massacre the other day where peaceful musical festival attendees and civilians in their homes were murdered, raped, and kidnapped.

While I agree that Israel is not the good guy here, it’s a bit more nuanced than just that now. Hamas has done lots of atrocities and now it’s more of an Everyone Sucks Here situation. Murder and rape of civilians are not okay (and yes, even the murders Israel has done, although I do find the rape and the targets escalates this latest atrocity into something more viscerally horrible).

Not to mention Hamas is also pretty far-right, also desires genocide, they just don’t have the power to do it.

It’s hilarious and ironic that hexbear is one of the only two blocked.

Throwing it in my All feed at least so other people in my instance will see it eventually next posts =)

Oh nice. Federation is so cool that you can do that kind of thing.

The front page of reddit is so bad now. It’s like 1/4 feel good memes, 1/4 variations of rate my pic subs, 1/4 ask reddit questions with the same answers I’ve seen a ton of times before, and 1/4 news and reviews. It’s somehow bland pop culture nonsense mixed with whining and anger.

I can get the first and last 1/4 from Lemmy now and the other stuff I don’t care about, so I get through the Reddit first few pages way faster than I used to now (when I’m browsing bored at work).

Mostly Jerboa nowadays and Sync nowadays. I used to use Voyager and Connect and Liftoff, which are all good also in their own ways, but Jerboa and Sync seemed to have the best functionality for me in terms of interacting with different communities and instances across the fediverse. I also need to look into Thunder one of these days.
