It’s becoming a lot easier to use the internet a lot less. It’s been turned into such a user-hostile space so domineered by corporations and fascists that most of the internet doesn’t really hold much of an appeal anymore, at least for me.

If the internet died tomorrow and didn’t come back, I’d be annoyed about not being able to use it to order food, manage my bank account, or watch shows/movies, but the world would likely be an overall better place once logistics re-adapted to not having it.

The internet was cool for the first 10-15 years, but it’s been a rapidly worsening cesspit for a long time. Nothing the internet can offer us is worth also tolerating it as a tool for inescapable government and corporate surveillance, and as the most effective imagineable breeding ground for fascism and disinformation.

The internet makes our lives worse in so many more ways than it imporves them, and people are too fucking addicted to it to give a shit.

You can plan whatever you want, it doesn’t change reality.

Have you tried just living in your cubicle and having them take rent out of your paycheck?

I don’t need to live in a place to know that heat domes, droughts, and rampant wildfires do not describe a place that’s “probably survivable.” You will not be able to live there 15-20 years from now.

Yup. Famously, no one ever created art until capitalism came around to turn it into a commodity.

Did you forget what happened there last summer?

Relocate? To where? The whole planet is fucked, not just the tropics.

That’s kind of the point, though. The fact that you can’t just…live in the world without participating in a destructive and exploitative economic system first is disgusting and immeasurably immoral and unethical.

Most people aren’t middle class.

Don’t worry, in a few decades that’s where we’ll all be, you included. Assuming we survive the corporate-induced famines, anyway.

The fact that “don’t work off the clock” and “don’t do work you aren’t getting paid for” are genuinely needed bits of advice rather than absurdly obvious common sense should radicalize all workers.

Most of the “solutions” sold by companies are for artificial problems created by companies.

I stopped reading when you said the goal of tech companies is to solve real world problems. The only goal of tech companies is to create products that will make them a profit. To believe anything else is delusional. That’s kind of why our society is crumbling and the planet is dying.

And they’ll be correct once the currents in the Atlantic collapse in the 30’s.
