Anyone else feel like millennials/xoomers that refuse to use Tiktok are as out of touch as boomers that refused to try using the Internet? The sound almost exactly the same
I would hate to be that stubborn

Sure but what’s their excuse? Is everyone simply a huge Meta investor? That’d be my best guess for how multiple people try to achieve something like this without looking at the consequences - personal gain. But I’m still inclined to believe these politicians/surrogates want to do a decent job and/or get re-elected
For sure. I just wonder why no one could see this coming. I get Biden is old as shit and ignorant af, but isn’t there supposed to be a team informing him on shit? I mean, guess the same goes for all the congress(wo)men that supported such a stupid, irrational policy
What absolutely atrocious politics
What are the benefits that come from unification, like for the SK people, other than just helping the struggling NK people?
Yeah, that’s how I’m interpreting it as well, but I could be a bit biased given the fact it seems to be going on everywhere
I mean, isn’t she just saying it doesn’t make sense to fight back since that could lead to war with a nuclear power?
Idk seems like the thing a smarter Israel would’ve said, and Hamas never even had nukes
Are the pro-NK folks in the room with us now?
Seriously, are there really pro-NK supporters in SK? That seems ridiculous. Does that guy just really want to start a war with NK or smth?
If I say, the earth isn’t a perfect sphere and that actually it’s a bit oval/elliptical (or whatever or supposedly is) and then someone answers all pissy and asking me to prove it, do you really think I’m likely to help them understand my position if I find them rude and annoying? Most people that genuinely want to understand others’ point of view don’t say things like “or was that someone else’s fault?” They say things like"can you explain why you think that?" or maybe “I’ve been thinking xyz, why is it you think abc instead?”
“I’ma be disrespectful to you, but I expect you to teach me!”
This ain’t a debate. lol. If you want people to share their knowledge with you, come correct. Most people would be happy to share information. When you act all dishonest it makes no one want to even talk to you unless they agree with you
Hasan Poker ain’t for everyone but he’s super knowledgeable and provides great context for ongoing issues. I mainly watch on YouTube so the clips are edited down and even more context (charts, sources, etc) are added.
Hmm… not bad. I only watched 5ish min, but he seems genuine - that is to say, he realizes he fucked up, not that he’ll actually change anything
More interesting, to me, as someone that had only heard about this from headlines, you can clearly see the mental illness pervasive in his community by looking at the comments and even moreso by looking at the guy’s room. Dude is someone we should pity, not hate - granted I understand influencers having massive platforms, and well influence
Still, I wish we could be more like the Palestinians and Arabs he mentions, that checked on him to see if he was ok, instead of the knee-jerk, quick to react Americans we are, that are ready to pounce on a fallen neighbor enemy and eager to find ways we’re different to further divide ourselves
Why are your bars unequally divided?
It doesn’t make sense for chocolate bars to be divided into equal-sized chunks when there is so much inequality in the chocolate industry! The unequally-sized chunks of our 180g bars are a palatable way of reminding Choco Fans and Serious Friends that the profits in the chocolate industry are unequally divided.
And in case you haven’t noticed, the bottom of our bars depicts the West African coastline. The chunks just above it represent the Gulf of Guinea. From left to right, you have Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo and Benin (terribly politically incorrect, we know, but we had to combine them to create enough space for a hazelnut), Nigeria and part of Cameroon.
That’s awesome!
What the hell I need to learn to shoot for?
F that! I’m following my dreams
Idk, I’m bilingual and I only ever think in English. It doesn’t really seem to make a difference though, saying things out loud vs in my head.
I’m learning a third language now and can just barely communicate with others (worked with a taxi driver!). That said, I wouldn’t consider myself truly trilingual yet. I could think in that language but it doesn’t really feel like it changes anything - I still only know the same words in my head
I just read it as supporting third parties. I thought you were going to mention what happens if a third party were to get more votes but not a majority. I actually don’t know. Would there still be a runoff between Dem and Rep or would the third party actually win it? I’d assume theres some rule that the third party has to win a majority or some bs
There’s a link under the post linking to info on the Sri Lanka election.
All good! It’s easy to miss
The OP? What’s that based on? All their posts are just critical of Israel
That said, given how lemmy works, there’s no real recourse anyway. This is a good, funny post, so I’ll upvote it. Since upvote points aren’t tracked there’s nothing we can really do to tell bad actors apart from people that actually contribute to communities/discussions. If it mattered, I’d maybe downvote but it doesn’t since every post they make ends up being treated individually by the community (unless you track usernames or something and I personally don’t pay for that feature)
You’d have to comment on all their posts if you wanted it to stick, and then if it’s not obvious like here, you’d have to provide reasoning each time. I don’t get it but most people really didn’t like points being added up for some reason
Can you clarify? You’re saying you don’t currently want to try TT because you don’t think it’s existed long enough, and/or that you didn’t try it before because you didn’t think it would last that long?
Idk dude, the latter would literally be exactly what people said about the Internet. “It’s just a fad”, “it won’t go anywhere/be useful/last long”.
I mean, our ineffective af government was somehow able to rally bipartisan support against this very popular app that many Americans use to create/manage/advertise their businesses, one that is the only slightly left-leaning social media site and one that isn’t controlled by American oligarchs. But you still think it’s not important?
That’s fair. lol. Agree to disagree. They’re not coming for “us” at least!
