That’s true. I’m just considering that maybe some amount of “safe” exposure would help someone deal with real life situations better in the sense of reacting quicker or maybe even preventing harm. I guess the more extreme end of that spectrum would basically be what training for emergency situations is, which yeah, should be a deliberate decision, not an accidental thing.

I usually don’t see it as a brag so much as a matter of fact when someone says they’re desensitized because of the internet. I wonder if there is a degree of exposure that is actually beneficial in some way, as opposed to being completely sheltered from it. The shitty and bizarre side of humanity is real too. You’re going to encounter some aspects of it eventually so maybe some mental preparation is a good thing. Also there is real danger to be aware of. But yeah, the unfiltered wild west internet was not an ideal teacher of these realities.

I usually say just tell me the object of the game and then tell me what to do whenever it’s my turn. After a few turns and just observing the game and asking a few questions, I can manage on my own. Way more enjoyable than trying to parse even the instruction booklets.
