4·3 months agoThe Witness is amongst my favorite games of all time. However my first impression of this game is that it feels pretty generic but I’ll wait for more info before I make a final judgment.

3·4 months agoThis is true but this was also done at at time when all of these things were unprecedented. Valve was blazing a trail with Steam and digital distribution and there was nothing else even close.

1231·8 months agoThere’s nothing wrong with Secure Boot and enabling it can prevent a small subset of attack vectors with no real downsides. That being said, the things Secure Boot does protect against aren’t likely to be an issue for most users but it’s nothing to be afraid of.

Programmer Humor@lemmy.ml•Better start fixing your spaghetti code.English
4·2 years agoI’d much rather praise them when they do something well, but this is so hard to spot when just reading over committed code. All the obstacles they cleared are not visible in there.
This is SO true and exactly why code reviews always feel like a beat down (even when they’re not). There’s no visibility into the truly good work that’s already been done.
I’d argue this is a wash. Linux is more convenient in many ways but Windows is in others.

71·2 years agoValve releasing a competitive game doesn’t prevent you from doing this. I for one am excited by the potential of this game. Then again, I’ve been playing Dota for 10 years so maybe I’m just a masochist.

71·2 years ago“all your vscode extensions still work fine” is definitely not true. Sure a vast majority of them probably do, but certainly not all of them.
I still prefer it over full VS Code though.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Which OS do you use for your homeserver?English
8·2 years agoI am super impressed with Arch on my home servers. People seem to think “rolling” means “unstable” but the only issues I’ve had were due to some weird hardware incompatibility with my motherboard. Once I replaced the mobo my system has been rock solid AND reasonably up-to-date (I do use LTS kernel).

111·2 years agoI’ve been using Linode for a decade (or more) now without any issues. I’d encourage you to contact their support about this issue. Assuming you’re on the up-and-up this sounds like a big and in sure they’d be happy to help.
If you decide not to go with Linode though I think Digital Ocean is a good alternative.

Time to start documenting it!
