Ah righto, no worries!
Ah righto, no worries!
I’m waiting for my ban because they’ve been handing out some bans for “calls for violence” when people have talked about wishing there was more Luigi’s (in stronger language than this). Though depends on the mod.
Lemmy.ml probably isn’t my vibe either though, because while I’m way more favourable than the average person in the US or Australia towards China, and while I don’t think everyone on Lemmy.ml is a tankie, there is some serious rose tinted glasses being worn by some folk simply because the USSR and China have carried the communist banner.
Ridiculous, given how terribly inequitable Chinese society is. And how they’re not exactly models for others to follow. They’re in practically the same boat as us now, in this capitalist hellscape. In my case, I’d argue Australia has achieved more socialism than China has (thanks to the union movement, though, that’s waning these days…)
I’ll probably still move to Lemmy.ml at some point, if and when I’m banned on world 😅 just hope me calling people out when they’re engaging in “USA bad therefore China and Russia good” stupidity doesn’t get me banned.
I’ve viewed modlogs from lemmy.ml before, getting banned for being a reactionary is some wild shit. If not having a hard-on just because something claims to be socialist is being a reactionary, then damn
Yes, American propaganda is propaganda, but also: They’re both hugely powerful countries. It’s a bit naive to view either without healthy scepticism.
Just my perspective from a smaller country. I wish we weren’t the US’ little bitch (Australia) and think I do view China quite a lot more favourably than the average US or Australian citizen, but I think the first sentence in your meme is the healthy view here with practically any country.
The poor font. Forever associated with shitheads
Hey hey, don’t know you that those employees just never finished their training /s
Windows 8 was pretty bad, but you could at least still use desktop mode just fine with a quick settings fix.
Fucking windows 11 took top, left, and right taskbar from us and then locked all the threads asking for it back, and prevented the registry hack to at least get top taskbar back.
Windows 8 was fine
I’m holding out on my work laptop until they force me to “upgrade”
The dude has responded to nazi accounts agreeing numerous times.
If it walks and talks like a Nazi, it probably thinks of itself as such.
I’ve tried to imagine how I would gesture ‘my heart goes out to you’ vibes. In no world can I imagine a down-turned, flat palm, fingers straight and all together at about 45° (Nazi salute).
Like, if you were to give some one something (your metaphorical heart) you’d hand it over palm up. Or if you’re metaphorically distributing it like sewing seeds you would again, throw it out, palm up, hands slightly closed. Or if you’re throwing it like sand, you would have your fingers apart by the end of the throw.
In no world, does this make any sense other being a Nazi salute.
Or he’s the most awkward, weird dude in history. That is also, true, but given his other behaviour, I dunno how this could be read in any other way.
This has happened dozens of times, each time it was an “error”. Press X to doubt.
The intro was awesome, probably the best of any start trek (other than when they changed it to an instrumental version that sounded awful)
The rest are a bit of yawn in comparison.
The song was a banger, and it really warmed on me. When they changed it to an instrumental it sounded really stupid
Gotta love the Murdoch media…
If he did it once, sure could be argued to be accidental, but he did it pretty forcefully, multiple times, and he baaaaarely has plausible deniability that he didn’t mean this as a wink wink to the neo-nazis.
Despite the unhappy circumstances, it’s kinda nice Chinese and Americans interacting on social media.
The fact this isn’t typically possible because of bans in China is not so nice. Neither is the fact the US is going down the same road instead of proper privacy laws.
But still, kinda nice
This song is near and dear to my heart after having only heard it a handful of times before
Though, the problems described are not from the project managers, it’s the higher ups and owners squeezing every last cent, with disregard for the people who will be killed.
So, so many unnecessary deaths because someone wanted to save money and cut corners in my industry.
This is why people who advocate for small government and lax regulations, are idiots
I don’t work in software, I’m a chemical (aka process) engineer.
Some project managers are superfluous if they don’t have a background being an engineer of some discipline themselves, but the vast majority I’ve worked with are excellent because they have a working knowledge of everything required to progress each stage of the project, and deal with most of the client interactions.
Being able to say: “we’ve done x, but we still need y, z and aa to progress” and then the project manager organising this getting done together with the other discipline leads is a godsend, letting you focus on doing the actual calculations/design/nitty-gritty details. And the fact they manage the annoying role of dealing with clients and the disagreements around that is also great.
This is working as a consultant, but I imagine if you replace clients with higher ups, I’d imagine the same still applies.
Perhaps things are very different in software, but I do think there is some use for them.
But I’ve never had one check up every 15 mins, more like once a day, and only if something is very time sensitive. Otherwise it’s once a week, or by email as required.
Expedient texting. Or hanging out, but over distance.
Riddle me this, call not-likers: what is the difference between calling your friend, over the phone, and calling them on your teamspeak of choice (or whatever is popular these days).
Is it the impromptu nature of it? Just don’t answer when it’s not convenient then, it’s not the 90s, they can follow up with a text if you can’t pick up.
Is it the talking to people in general? Then I fail to see why calls are the issue.
This is assuming you know the personal calling, via callerID.
Is it you feel more rushed and flustered because you can’t see each other, and thus can’t pick up on visual cues?
All in all, thoroughly confused why people have an aversion to calls, I think they’re rather expedient and useful. Depending on what’s called for. (I feel this way in both work and social contexts).
This will be bouncing around in my head for the rest of my life: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AD-E2B5GfI8
It’s been like this for thousands of years. Have you heard of religion?
But yeah, it is not a pleasant thought that people love this way :/
Me being the way I am, if we worked together in shared folders, I would die.
My current colleagues already somewhat annoy me by not properly version numbering so you have no clue what file in a unsorted folder is the latest, or naming a folder with a date like: “14 Feb 24” like some hecking heathens.
YYYY.MM.DD (or other delimiters) or gtfo.
This concludes my 2 cents only partially related to yours haha
It 100% will cause your apple account to get banned.
There was a fraudulent charge on my card once to iTunes, so I got it reversed by the bank, because it was fraud.
This banned my account and I had to go to apple support when months later I discovered my account was banned. They give you one chance.
So yeah, you gotta ask them first if you don’t wanna get banned. But you should basically say, cancel my subscription, please and thank you, I’m not required to use your device to do so if you let me sign up without a device.
I suspect in multiple countries they would have to comply under consumer law, and I know for a fact they would be obligated to on Australia.
