Games@lemmy.world•Are there any level-based city building games?English
8·4 months agoI am not sure if it fits your bill, but when I am overwhelmed by my factorio mega base or tired of traffic in cities skyline I now switch to the recently released Sintopia. It scratches the build-optimising itch, but does so in rounds with a clear goal and a defined end. You can go endless and sandbox if you wish but I find it at the moment relaxing to know that after maximal 10 ish hours of avoiding the goal I can finish the run anytime and do a new one. And don’t actually have to fix everything.

Apple@lemmy.world•Just curious, how many Messages do you have in iCloud?
2·4 months ago3k and about one GB. I don’t often use the regular messages.
She also might to be magic, because there is enough wind to make her hair, skirt and bow flow in it but the cornfield is not swaying one bit. One corn is even leaning to the wrong side and faces into the wind.

Comic Strips@lemmy.world•[Meta] Posting comics from transphobic artists?
12·5 months agoYes the report button is great and helps mods a lot, but the issue is that at the moment I don’t see any rule a comic would violate when it is as the op describes safe and relatable but made by an outspoken transphobe. The question seems to be do we need or want a rule against supporting transphobia indirectly by giving the artist free cloud. Because removing the artist name is a violation of the communities rules.

Comic Strips@lemmy.world•[Meta] Posting comics from transphobic artists?
192·5 months agoI would say don’t supply transphobes with free exposure and would option for the third option. Though checking and controlling for the political views of each artist may be too much work to put onto the mod team and would have to be on the poster.
Personally I am also biased against transphobes and would love it, if they would not be posted at all.

Comic Strips@lemmy.world•had this convo just yesterday 🤦♀️
4·5 months agoThere is nothing in the books itself that is anti trans (AFAIK and remember), it is that people equate her works with her political views which are anti trans. As a most likely trans person myself (still working out the details of it, stay tuned) I have a real struggle at my hands. On the one hand her books were a massive part of my childhood and early teens. I waited in line out side book stores to get the newest one. On the other hand she uses the money she gets from licenses and the IP to fund anti trans organisations. She also uses her fame / reach to spread TERF points of view. I enjoy and love the world she created back then but I cannot in good conscience consume anything that supports her now. Not any merch, series, film or game.
I on my ow may not make a difference but the sum is more than it parts. If enough ppl. start voicing their objection to her and her views, boycott the new stuff because of her, some change might be possible. If not, sacrificing something I loved growing up is an acceptable price to pay to keep me and others safe.
I feel like the point is less about size and more about the methods. I think it aims at the issue highlighted by an other comment that this protest while good doesn’t really disrupt the system.

When this was posted a few days back maybe a week or two, a comment or pointed out that they couldn’t even verify the amount of shells dumped saying some articles they found on it cited half a million shells other said half a million tons but apparently non could point out where the number is coming from.
Either way I give it a quick check if I can pull up the older post and link here.
Edit was quick, it’s been just about a week since.

Comment I am referring two from the 2nd post
It’s LLM-generated from some mill called UpWorthy; the fact it’s on Yahoo! News just lends it some credibility because most people aren’t going to understand that, while Yahoo! News has some original articles of its own, it’s primarily a news aggregator with minimal quality standards.
OP genuinely doesn’t seem to give a shit about the quality of what they post; I administered the other day what I think has been the first temp ban of a poster from !leopardsatemyface@lemmy.world because they refused to learn when their posts got removed for clear lack of relevance.
Edit: This article never once sources this information. The FDEP talks about using oysters but never says 500,000 tons, and all I can immediately find about that specific claim are some shitty AI videos from late 2025.
Edit 2: But here’s a neat report! Again, though, the 500k number seems to have been pulled out of an AI hat.
