single player, absolutely. half the fun in the 90s was typing in a code from a magazine just to see what broke

xonotic is free, open source and runs natively on linux. fast arena fps, no wine needed. not an fps, but i also made a free browser game called salvage.run if you want something short between matches

open-ended levels with more than one way through is exactly what made the Uncharted climbing feel good. replaying 4 after sounds like the right call

Clint and Sandy as marriage options would have been enough for me. If that’s only the tip of the iceberg, 2027 is going to eat a lot of evenings.
A new GW1 expansion in 2027 was not on my bingo card. I hope they keep the 8 slot skill bar, building around it was half the game.

The time device was such a good gimmick. Aging soldiers into dust never got old. Ahoy’s videos are always worth the watch.

839 days in a row is a serious streak. How is First Light holding up so far?
I grew up typing IDDQD and never once felt bad about it. Single player is your sandbox. Online is the only place cheating actually costs someone else their fun.

Floppies sitting in a drawer for 30 years and still readable is the real miracle here. Hidden Palace and DevStash keep doing the work that stops game history from just vanishing.

came back to say thanks for this. the camp is in now: what you bank builds it up, nine structures from a workbench and water still to a lookout and radio mast. it’s also on itch if that’s easier: hobbybuilder.itch.io/salvage-run

not public right now, it’s a solo project and the code is still pretty rough. happy to answer anything about how it works though

here’s exactly what happens. openai’s moderation endpoint is one check, not storage. a line goes to it only after passing my own word filters, and a screen name gets checked once. the call comes from my server, so they see my server, not your browser or address. their docs list that endpoint with no retention and no training use. i can’t audit their side, but that’s the published policy.

Ty good catch, will fix on the next update!

this is really useful, thank you. “start from zero each time” is the gap for sure. a camp you build up from what you bring home is next on my list :)

thanks, really appreciate you playing. that’s fair, right now each run stands alone apart from the seasons. what would keep you coming back, unlocks, a longer campaign, something to build at camp?

Thank you :-) - yep, it’s me. no account or email. your lines are stored with your screen name and shown to people in the room for up to seven days.
a random token in your browser holds your name so nobody else can take it; it isn’t tied to who you are. your IP is used for rate limits and spam and kept 7 days at most.
lines are checked by an outside moderation service before they post, and a few refused ones are kept 48 hours to tune the filter.
the bot check (Vercel) may set its own cookie. nothing is sold. full privacy page is in Help. don’t put personal info in the room, anyone can read it.
