I’ve been downvoted en masse for saying that physical media doesn’t last forever, and that many of my PS1/2/3 physical copies no longer work due to labels peeling off and disc rot. It doesn’t happen apparently.

Physical media isn’t what people should want - it’s emulation. Physical media only works as long as there’s original hardware to play it on, and it’s getting harder and harder to get working original hardware.

I suing care about playing the game on original hardware, I care about being able to play it on really and easily available hardware.

Nah, you liked it. You don’t keep going back to a game for 50 hours if you don’t like it. Most people don’t even put 50 hours into games they like.

If you play a game for 50+ hours, you liked it. You don’t spend that amount of time being undecided.

Who keeps playing a game they don’t like? Why would you do that to yourself?

You need both. It’s much easier to detect cheats on the client side, ones that would never get picked up server side.

Reviews mean nothing if the game doesn’t sell. It flopped. Microsoft wouldn’t gut a studio that made a successful game.

It’s funny how people flip flop between game pass causing bad sales, and game pass being a gigantic flop that no one pays for, depending on the point they want to prove.

Most people are ok with not owning copies of movies or music when they are easily and readily available for super cheap whenever they want them. Games are much the same these days. Habits and priorities have changed.

At the end of the day, Doom:TDA was a flop and took 5 years to make. Eternal wasn’t as good as 2016. Someone has to be held accountable for their games not being hits. It’s unfortunate, but you can’t keep flushing money down the toilet forever.

I had hoped to see Microsoft use the idtech engine for a halo or gears game, but I guess that’s definitely not happening now.
