Dammit, that wasn’t supposed to post yet. I’m still in the process of revising! Lol.

Ha. She’s one worth crying over. Lost her in April, and I don’t know that I’ll recover. Hug your loved ones. ♥️
But I will tell you, she taught me how to steal fantastic cheeses, and we never went hungry again. Haha.
Would marry that farmer. No questions asked, no long engagement. Straight to the court house, we’re getting hitched.
My mom and I used to steal fancy cheese for each other. God I miss that woman like you can’t believe. 10/10 mom and person.
Lmao. That stands for leaded and regular. Sheesh.
Honestly, that’s fucking genius. They should do murals on elevators doors that change as they open
Dharma Curious@startrek.websiteto Linux@lemmy.ml•Linux phones are more important now than ever1·2 months agoCan you explain how to do this? I’d make the switch, honestly. Not a super techy person, but I’m willing to learn if it means a Linux phone.
We do occasionally see a small surcharge in the US when using a card, but that’s regardless of method (swipe, insert, or tap). Very small businesses will often charge 1-5% for any debit or credit purchase, and cash price is the listed price. But again, that’s not tap specific
I’ve honestly never considered using my bank through a mobile browser. Yeah, it I can do that I’d be fine on that front.
Sniffies is completely dead here, and the dudes that are on it are gross. Grindr isn’t much better, but since everyone’s on it you can occasionally find people who are willing to use protection or hosting someone other than some bushes. I’ll try way droid and see if it works. If it doesn’t, I googled it and it says you can use Grindr from desktop if you pay… I may end up having to do that if I made the switch.
Which leaves cash app as the biggie. I’ll try waydroid, but if it doesn’t work I’ll probably end up needing to keep android or switching to iOS (I hate iPhones:( ), or maybe even getting a second phone I use exclusively for cash app. No sim, just my wifi hotspot (can you do a wifi hotspot with a Linux phone yet?). In order to prevent overdrafts and accidental charges, I never spend directly from my bank account. I transfer exactly what I’ll need for each purchase to cash app before the transaction and shop like that. Keeps me aware, and no accidental charges or surprises.
Help a non-techy out. I’ve fully switched my computers to Linux (fedora workstation, silver blue, and ubuntu). Been Linux only for several years now. Silverblue is probably my favorite. I’m willing to make the switch for my phone, too. But there are a few things I’m pretty reliant on:
My banking apps, cash app, and, embarrassing as it may be to admit, Grindr.
Any chance of getting those?
I’ve never seen a surcharge for tap to pay in the US. I’m not sure about elsewhere, but whether I’m tapping my car, my phone, or my watch I have never seen any surcharge from the retailer, my banks, or from Google.
This is the way. And I sleep HOT. I will uncover my whole body and leave my feet covered. I cannot sleep with uncovered feet
If you are into solar punk slrpnk.net has been amazing for me. Due to some weird timing with the admin being out of town when the servers went down they’re down right now for a bit, so I’m not sure when they’ll be back up and running. But the current situation is a hiccup, not a consistent issue. I love the server, and if anything, the community reaction to the admin being unable to fix this for a few weeks has made me love it even more.
Dharma Curious@startrek.websiteto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•All this produce is going to spoil at the food bank where I volunteerEnglish20·4 months agoFacebook canning groups are a great idea, as someone else mentioned. Them little old ladies can do pretty amazing things on short notice. Can I suggest hitting up local churches? The methodists, Episcopal and baptists are all particularly fond of doing drives and such, and may be able to do an impromptu canning drive for y’all
Dharma Curious@startrek.websiteto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•where are worker rights parades? why are we focusing on very limited issues?2·5 months agoThat’s one of the reasons I didn’t comment on the post itself, and only replied to another person. Because I can’t quite tell which way OP was leaning on that, and I didn’t want to be uncharitable.
Dharma Curious@startrek.websiteto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why are you here and not on Reddit?11·5 months agoI’m a communist. I don’t mean to say I’m here because of the leftist population (though, that is nice sometimes, but as in any lefty heavy place there’s infighting and bullshit), but rather I have certain values that guide my decision making process, and one of them is not supporting massive corporations and shitty services when possible. Lemmy is an alternative to reddit that doesn’t benefit the same class of people as reddit, while actively benefiting the people who actually use it.
Dharma Curious@startrek.websiteto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•where are worker rights parades? why are we focusing on very limited issues?14·5 months agoI feel like ever since the term shifted from “gay liberation” to “gay pride” it has hindered the movement in a lot of ways. Liberation tells you what this is about, pride tells you… You’re proud? Good for you. Lots of people are proud, but not all people need liberation (or, at least, not everyone thinks they need it).
I vote we go back to calling it Liberation, and instead of bickering over why people are at the queer event and not a workers event, we start organizing monthly or bimonthly events, a queer/LGBT liberation event, a women’s liberation event, a worker’s liberation event, Hispanic Liberation event… Let’s pepper the calendar with parties and parades and protests while drilling into people’s minds that we are all deserving of respect, autonomy, and liberation.
Not sure how well I said all that. I’m about 5 boozy horchatas in, and I hate to do the “as a gay man” thing, but I feel like I should mention I am, in fact, a gay, and I quite enjoy pride and what it stands for
Dharma Curious@startrek.websiteto Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Wait, my body's own heat is enough? Always has been.3·11 months agoAlso, gotta say, I love Lemmy, but it still weirds me out being recognized across multiple communities. Like, noticing the same users in one subreddit over and over, or being recognized in the sub is one thing. But on Lemmy I notice the same names pop up in multiple communities, and have had people continue conversations from one community in another because they recognize the username. It’s a weird experience. I feel like I’m in Mayberry. Lol
Absolutely my favorite vehicle I have ever had. My mom was disabled and we have had to use SUVs and pickups and vans my whole life, before anyone jumps me for the environmental aspect. But it was genuinely the nicest vehicle I’ve ever had. Loved everything about it.
