No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why does postal voting favour the American Democratic Party?English
21·2 months agoI’ve wondered this too. My only guess is if you mess with US Mail there are strict federal laws that protect it. Plus it gives time to read, research and discuss what you’re voting for. LOL, oh and my wife tells me who to vote for.
Can’t speak for the ballot boxes but there always seems to be some stories about missing ballots. Or people waiting out side for hours in November.
Like everyone else said, didn’t fix it, if not broken. Admins like distros like Debian and Arch(sorry) because you have more initial control of what’s on them. Why have a GUI, if you didn’t need it? Mix that with a little OCD and next thing you’re doing is recompiling the kernel. Fun stuff 😀
No preorder for me. I almost do the opposite. I buy games after they get cheap in 1 to 5 years, lol

Games@lemmy.world•While we eagerly await the second coming of Steam Machines, it's worth remembering what a gloriously awful mess Valve got itself in over a decade agoEnglish
36·5 months agoI doubt it. On the Windows platform, Valve has to do what Microsoft decides. If Microsoft decides all apps are required to go through the Microsoft store app then Valve would be toast.

Games@lemmy.world•Our first look at the Steam Machine, Valve’s ambitious new game consoleEnglish
4·5 months agoLol, my dumb computer is running DDR3 / no TPM, it’s super old. I have been waiting for video cards to get better/cheaper. I’m totally down with not the fastest. If it plays 90% of my games, costs less than $600. I just read that it’s six times more powerful than the Steam Deck. The Steam Deck can run Cyberpunk 2077, so this will do just fine. Another thing that I really like is that Valve is verifying games for their hardware. The games it can’t run, I guess I won’t play. I’m sold!

111·5 months agoI was hesitant about upgrading my ancient computer because I didn’t want to spend $1,200 - $2000 on a new setup. This looks like a great option.

They still giving away free games?
