If the media didn’t want him to win, they shouldn’t have called the race before even 10% of the state got a chance to vote. There’s going to be hundreds, possibly thousands of people who left caucuses early when they heard the race was called. The media is not only complicit in his win there, they have also exposed themselves to retaliation from campaigns and voters alike.

1·2 years agoHonestly, unless you’re on last gen consoles, it’s been worth playing since launch. Its bugs were no worse than Skyrim on consoles, and less bad in many ways. The game itself is probably the most open world immersive sim we’ve ever gotten. It’s not GTA, and it’s not trying to be. It’s not a sandbox, and it’s not a psychopath simulator like GTA. It’s a deep, philosophical, highly emergent single player game with a well-written story and competent acting in probably one of the most beautiful game worlds of all time.

12·2 years agoYou really running defense for empire?
“Name a president who didn’t kill people” isnt the dunk you think it is. Quite the opposite, it just makes the point that the US government is a murder cult and that regardless of who you vote for, you’re still supporting war, murder, and imperialism.

3·2 years agoThat will be cool! I do a lot of repair, but aviation is another level! Fixing things is honestly the most satisfying labor overall for me. I take any opportunity I can to learn a new device. I’m in assembly these days, though, so it’s mostly for friends and family. Do you need to go to school for aviation maintenance?

4·2 years agoNo, I see those in Ukraine threads, not specifically on Lemmygrad. Actually, I see it most on lemmy world, overall. Sorry, I should’ve articulated that more clearly.

74·2 years agoI have. I’ve still never seen it. What I do constantly see in those threads is dehumanization of Russian people and calls for mass genocide of them, though. Calling them orcs and talking about how they all deserve to die.
I don’t believe you, to be honest. One can acknowledge Russian security concerns (like multiple U.S. military officials and many high members of the UN have) without praising Putin. And I’ve still never seen a single communist say anything good about Putin. On any website.

I love my long eyelashes. I have not had that problem, though. I would be frustrated also.

Technology@lemmy.ml•Elon's "extremely hardcore" toxic work culture means people are forced to take Adderall without a prescription to meet their workload. Just ask SpaceX employees.English
7·2 years agoYeah I feel that also. That’s why I believe in democratization of the workplace. Instead of obeying the whims of a single dictator-leader or small board of directors, labor should be able to collectively decide the motivations and direction of their labor power.
With such ownership of development, instead of working for someone else’s vision, we’d be able to collectively develop and manifest a vision that isn’t predicated solely on the extraction of profit, but on the collective needs and desires of those within and without the company itself, meaning those within the community who will also be affected by the decisions of the company.
But of course, as of now, this is just the rambling dreams of one person, and not an actualized reality.

211·2 years agoIdk, I’d be willing to overwork myself if it were for a really good cause, like ending hunger, or rapidly building houses that will be provided free at point of use to unhoused and low income people, etc. definitely not a normal job I’d do it fit though.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Advice on helping a loved one through alcoholism?English
11·2 years agoWell I never went to AA aside from one meeting where I felt everyone was just addicted to AA instead of Alcoholism, but I imagine some of what I know could have been learned through osmosis from others, and thus may not be as accurate as I’d like. Can you tell me which so I can update my understanding?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Advice on helping a loved one through alcoholism?English
71·2 years agoThey say everyone has to find their own rock bottom before they can begin to heal, and for me that was true. I had to lose almost everything in my life, my friends, my home, my girlfriend… The only things I had at the end were my dog and my car and junk. You can’t really help someone, until they help themselves.
The only way to help themselves in my experience is for them to recognize that there’s no such thing as a good amount of alcoholic, and go cold turkey straight up. No weaning, no “I drink socially.” Or “I drink on weekends.” (This is dangerous and if they do so, it should be a medical detox with the proper medication and under supervision, depending how addicted they are. They can die from quitting cold Turkey without medication).
There is scientific evidence that if one is an alcoholic, the alcoholism can literally overpower even the strongest of willed individuals. But only after the first drink. That first drink is the one that fucks you. Don’t have the first drink, ever.
By tolerating the cycles of abuse and apology, you’re actively enabling them. You need to set hard boundaries. Before you get hurt badly. For your own safety, do not even exist in the same place as them while they’re drinking. If they have a drink, go to a friends or your families house, and tell them you won’t come back until they’re sober. You’re basically telling them it’s okay to cyclically abuse you if you stay.
Sales of most things are down, we’re returning to pre pandemic-boom normals.

That’s a Dreams game, and as much as I love dreams, it’s really more suited to experiences than it is full fledged games. It does look great though.
