Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•I ordered my daughter a pizza, something I don't usually do. I got Domino's smallest size with two toppings. I got her cheese sticks and two sauces and tipped the driver 20%. $31.07.English
11·1 year agoThis is pretty much true of any of the large pizza chains. Watch the specials, use coupons, take advantage of discounts for things like ordering through the app or texting (because reasons). It’s dumb, but you have to play their game to get a decent price.
That said, I can’t fault OP at all. Trying to grab a quick meal for a kid means you can’t spend the time to piss around and try to get a better deal.

20·1 year agoIt can be both at the same time which is why the problem is so exacerbated right now.
takes notes so I can bring a quart bag with 3.4 ounce bottles of acid onto a plane.

20·1 year agoI worked at a tree farm in my teens and honestly if I could still do that making what I make now I would be all over that. Always outside, in great shape, got to run heavy machinery, it was great.
Damn, I feel old now…

4·1 year agoI had that happen for a while too, somehow it thought I was using it too much or something that wasn’t for personal use. You can request a whitelist if you are so inclined. The process was pretty simple: https://anydesk.com/en/whitelist-request
After I did that I haven’t seen that pop back up in over a year.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do 9-5 jobs still exist in the U.S.?
2·1 year agoI’m in a large company, 350k+, but our team of ~20 has different rules. The head of our team, my bosses boss, gives us a TON of flexibility to take comp time, take random days off and bill to the project (without taking PTO), etc. When my boss brought me on it was touted as a startup within a large company. I won’t say we can do ANYTHING, but outside of go-live weeks we can flex our hours a lot. Hell I cut out by like 2P or 3P every Friday.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do 9-5 jobs still exist in the U.S.?
9·1 year agoSame, it’s glorious. That said, on the other side of the coin during go-live weeks I’ve worked multiple days in a row until midnight or later. So it balances out in the end.

193·1 year agoSeriously, they ALL fucking suck. I honestly kinda miss the old nub thingie that IBM (now Lenovo) had (has?). It took some getting used to but it was so much better than a touch pad.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Frustrated with the current political environment, come join us in the Lemon Party
9·1 year agoHow about meatspin? That was a classic!
I feel like “eat all politicians, burn the system down, and start anew” is a valid position, lol.
You can tell shit is really getting crazy when the list of people CC’d grows with every single reply-all, lol.

91·1 year agoI finally did this last week, nuked out my Win 11 laptop install and switched to Ubuntu. I have yet to find anything I would need to go back to Windows for.

Technology@lemmy.ml•First sodium-ion battery storage station at grid level opens with cells that can be charged in 12 minutes
28·1 year ago210 Ah cells to 90% in 12 minutes.
Assuming I can math early on a Monday morning:
90% of 210 is 189
189 / 12 is 15.75
So they charge at 15.75 an Ah per minute. Not sure how that compares honestly.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•In your country, what "common" animals are tourists most excited to see?
7·2 years agoHuh really? I have tons of trash pandas around me (central Ohio).
Doomsday clock? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doomsday_Clock
That’s my only guess.
lol same, or maybe “hold my beer.”

Oh shit, I remember those. They “cleaned” by using an abrasive spray to “polish” the CDs. Those things were straight-up evil.
